After many crazy things this week my review for Elysium is finally here. Sorry to all for my extreme lateness. Needless to say I was extremely excited for this film. District 9, to me, was a refreshing science fiction movie that hooked me on all levels and I couldn’t wait to see what Neill Blomkamp would do next. That movie is here and its name is Elysium. But, Is TriStar’s and MRC’s Elysium worth the price of a ticket to the extremely shiny space ship? Well I would, at least, consider it. Continue reading →

Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor

So, in case you were away from the internet all day yesterday and today, BBC announced who the 12th Doctor is going to be. Welcome aboard, Peter Capaldi! Doctor Who fans will recognize him from “The Fires of Pompeii”, but he’s been in loads of brilliant television across the pond. I personally can’t wait for his first episode.

Then you know how annoyed with me you will be when I finish this review.  In any case, if you were not aware (and if you aren’t, you haven’t been paying attention),  The Flash is my favorite DC superhero.  I love everything about him, and I am still working on my collection of all of his comic books from his inception to today.  That is why when I heard they were making a Flashpoint movie, I hardcore geeked out (It was not attractive). Neil Gaiman is an incredible author. He’s an incredible storyteller. That isn’t really an opinion. It’s more of a known fact. He can create worlds within this world, and make us almost believe it’s real. He can create characters that seem like they’re on the edges of society, but really, they’re just like us.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane is no exception.

The start of summer saw the end of one of the most talked about science fiction shows in a long while – at least the end of its first season anyway. Most of that conversation happened because of one very talented actress. Yes, everything about Orphan Black is good – it’s great, even – but Tatiana Maslany is the reason it all came together into a ten episode season that fans are ranting and raving about. After all, every one is Tatiana. (Don’t worry, though, this is mostly Spoiler Free, except for the fact that they’re clones. But everyone knows that.)

Mother Nature is a Serial Killer: A review of World War Z

It is here. After the many production problems and delays, Paramount Pictures’ very risky film World War Z has finally been released! The question is, was it worth the wait? Yes and no.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good zombie movie. I absolutely love 28 Days Later. Hell, I even love the completely awful ones that you just love for no reason. *Cough Cough* Automaton Transfusion *Cough Cough*. Including the completely god awful ones that you just watch to numb your mind. I’m looking at you House of the Dead, I’m looking at you really, really hard. Sometimes a movie zombie movie, or really any genre of movie, will come along and just make you think to yourself for a while if you really enjoyed it. World War Z is that movie for me.
